Dominic Oakes

Growing up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California, Dominic spent the majority of his youth wandering amongst her tallest peaks and steepest drainages in pursuit of the finned, feathered and furred fauna that called them home. Those drainages would eventually feed from the mountains to the ever fertile wetlands of Californias Central Valley, where he and his kin would spend their winters in marshy duck-blinds watching the phenomena of waterfowl make their annual migration through the ancient Pacific Flyway. From a young age Dominic had a strong affinity for wildlife and the wild places they took him. As time went on he found himself more frequently behind the view finder of a camera than a fly rod or firearm. His youthful curiosity for all things wild and untamed has since lead him here to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem which he now calls home. Currently he focuses on large predator conservation here in the GYE and internationally with Visionhawk Films as a tracker, AC, cinematographer and still photographer.
